"I traveled with family at the end of January and stayed at Pacuare Lodge for 4 nights. Our stay was incredible, and every part of our trip was seamless. This lodge is extremely well-run, and no detail is spared, thanks to the incredible staff. We were picked up from our hotel in San José by Pepé, who shared some history about Costa Rica during our drive to the rafting location. On the way, we stopped at a beautiful restaurant for breakfast. Pepé was also our raft guide for the white-water rafting into the lodge, with safety kayaker Luis accompanying us throughout the entire journey. Both were friendly, fun, and made sure we felt safe the whole time. Rafting in was a blast, and when we arrived, we were welcomed with warm towels and refreshing juice. During our stay, we participated in many activities, including birdwatching, night walks, zip-lining, the Loop Hike, a visit to Bajos del Tigre, and the sustainability tour. Our guides – Eric, Dave, Giovani, Alejandro, Luis, Angelica, and Alberto – were all wonderful. A special shout-out to Alejandro, who led most of our tours, as well as Luis and Alberto. They were so friendly, kind, knowledgeable, and passionate about their work. It was clear they love what they do, and we could have listened to them for hours. The team also appears to share a strong camaraderie, which creates a warm and welcoming environment for guests. The food was good, with plenty of options to choose from. The traditional Costa Rican dishes were the highlight. Our main servers – Adam, Wilfredo, and Hilary – made every meal special. One morning, Adam set up a table by the river for breakfast, which was a thoughtful touch. On our last night, the chefs prepared special meals for us since we were staying for over four days. We were fortunate to have perfect weather, and the scenery was beautiful. Being near the river was peaceful and healing, and we enjoyed swimming in the pool every day, which also offered a spectacular view of the jungle. It’s clear how much Pacuare Lodge cares about the community and the environment. Through the sustainability tour, we got an inside look at how the lodge operates with a strong commitment to minimizing waste. They repurpose everything and are mindful of the environment in all aspects of their work. Many staff members are from the nearby town, and the lodge integrates indigenous culture into various parts of the experience. Our raft out was another highlight, with our guide Marcello and safety kayaker Alex. We stopped along the river for a break, and the guides set up a delicious lunch with lots of fresh fruit. After the raft journey, we arrived at a warehouse with showers, change rooms, and towels, where we could change into dry clothes before the drive back to San José. Without a doubt, the best part of our trip was the staff – including Amy, Kevin, and Stefania at the front desk, who went above and beyond to make accommodations for us, as well as everyone behind the scenes – the chefs, ho"

"We stayed one night at Hotel Casa de Lis. The staff is super friendly and willing to help you make your trip better. They gave us a bunch of really helpful advices. The place is clean and rather affordable for the accommodation type they propose (really warm showers are available). They offer free drinks in the morning. I highly recommend if you are in the vicinity!"

"VILLA MORPHO. Our family of 5 stayed at Ecolirios in Villa Morpho for 3 nights in July of 2025. The villa is a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath open style modern home with a small pool. The pool is heated but does not get as hot as a hot tub. The kitchen is well equipped and the house has a bbq, which we used every night. There is a tankless hot water heater system that allows for continuous hot water for an amazing shower experience outside listening and looking at the jungle mountains. ITEM: The house is 100% solar powered. One night the power went out but the system was recharged in the morning, despite it raining. The team at Ecolirios is amazing and they worked tirelessly to ensure we were well taken care of. Some details: 1. The road to the resort is very rocky. We had an all-wheel drive minivan that made it easily. Just be aware it will take longer than what your navigation app tells you. And, once you are here, you will not want to venture out until your departure. 2. The space is exceptional. They have built a beautiful resort in the mountains of Costa Rica. We walked down to the bar/restaurant two of the nights we were here. As we sat drinking delicious mojitos, a variety of birds flew by and near us. These included two types of hummingbirds and a variety of toucan called a Fiery-Billed Aracari. Paradise! 3. The breakfast that is included is delicious. The family tried many of the choices and they were all very good. 4. There is a pretty solid trail on the property. We were here in the rainy season so we had to stop due to the trail being flooded so we could not make it to the end but what we saw was beautiful. Overall, if you want a Costa Rican experience without all the tourists and in the middle of nowhere but with all of the amenities we love while vacationing, Ecolirios is your place. If you have time, stop at the Caribbean Rainforest Sloth. Jose is awesome and you will see sloths. Just be aware, Jose does not speak English."

"This lodge reminded me of a villa in Tuscany. Beautiful scenery and tons of birds. The staff were welcoming, the room clean and the dinner was a delicious treat! There is no air conditioning but the temp was comfortable, I would have liked to leave the sliding glass door open at night but there was no screen. The grounds have beautiful plants and are very well maintained."
