"Purports to be a 5 star hotel but not in any way one would expect. There are absolutely no frills . Only liquid dispensers in bathrooms. No cotton wool , cotton buds , nail accessories etc. No chocolate or small snack at turndown. 3 tiny packets of snacks on arrival. Service minimal without a smile. Solid 3 star. No value for money charged ."

My only negative would be the bed which was a bit hard for me but could not take away from the beauty of this property. Thank you for taking such good care of us."

"The hotel is located very close to Monopoli (5 minutes by car). There is no reception - the owner has an office in the restaurant where he welcomes guests. Unfortunately, he speaks very little English. Those who read people of various nationalities on this site say that the host helped a lot with routes; with his English level, it seems easier to me if they speak Italian. I found that the owner was more attentive to Italians or people who speak the language because he could express himself. I was given a triple room, but with so many beds and a cot, it looked like a hotel storage room. Despite this, the room was spacious. It makes me confused that everything is ready to be used. If a guest goes there with a baby in the crib, is the bed linen in the air and dust for days and days? Breakfast on the first day could have been better. Everything was already very consumed, especially the hard, crusty bread. However, the hotel demonstrated its ability to adapt and improve. On the second day, I arrived earlier and found that the breakfast had been better prepared. While it may not offer hot items like eggs or bacon, the breakfast was sufficient and included a variety of fresh fruit. If you don't speak Italian, consider another hotel."

"An absolutely unforgettable experience. Spina is located just a few minutes drive from the historic city center of Monopoli. Beyond the stunning grounds and welcoming staff (Stella was a delight at reception), Spina is steeped with history, from its 16th century church to its 1,500 year old olive trees. The main house with its rustic red exterior and dramatic grand staircase offer the perfect backdrop for a family photo, post dinner pic, or even a wedding. The food at spina is also out of this world. From the Strascinate, to the burrata filled ravioli, eggplant parm, and even the fava bean purée, all the food we had was top notch. The service was also excellent, led by the captivating maitre d’ Domenico. Finally, I can’t say enough how much we enjoyed the historic tour hosted by Elena. Her passion for the property and its rich history kept myself and my family captivated throughout the duration of the tour. "
