"Circumstances dictate that I spend a few weekends in Pushkin every year. Last year, I stayed at the Kochubey Hotel. I really liked the superior double room with a double bed, measuring 29 square meters. This year, the room I'd loved so much was occupied, as was the family room. The receptionist offered me an "Apartment" room, saying it was in the same building. When we arrived, it turned out that getting to the room was quite a quest. We went up to the second floor, then walked a long way through corridors and small staircases, passed the stairs leading to the restaurant, found ourselves on the third floor of the academic building, went down to the first floor, walked through another corridor, and then up another staircase to the third floor. Phew, we finally arrived. The receptionist, thankfully, showed us the way across the grounds; we didn't have to climb so many more stairs, and I'm not sure I would have found my way from my room to the reception area if it had been my first time at the hotel. To get to the restaurant for breakfast, we had to walk through the mansion; I counted 98 (!) steps just one way. A big thank you to Olga, the restaurant employee, who was so helpful. My husband is disabled and without her help would have missed out on breakfast. We liked the room—it's a two-room apartment with a kitchen. Nice rooms with comfortable beds. There's a TV in the main room. Everything would have been great, but when they tell me a room has a kitchen, I expect dishes, at least cups and cutlery; usually, there are plates, a pot, and a frying pan. This room had a kettle, two glasses (one of them very small), one fork, one spoon, and three (!) knives. There were water coolers on each floor, but from our room to the nearest one we had to climb 76 steps, and we only found it in the morning. We had to rush to the store for water. If the website had described the rooms and their locations, many problems would have been avoided."
