"This is a long article, and there's no deliberate attempt to discredit or recommend; it's all objective evaluation. Whether you're considering this place or not, you can take your time reading it. I'm a media professional from Foshan. I've been to Niubi Village before—in 2020 to film a short film about Danxia tangerines—and in 2024 for a company team-building event, but both times it was just a stopover. I take my family on at least one trip a month, hiking and exploring; we've practically covered all of Guangdong. This time, since my family and children hadn't been before, I decided to take them. We decided to avoid the tourist area—the main entrance—to avoid the crowds. Staying inside the tourist area is too noisy; I prefer peace and quiet. So, we decided to go to Niubi Village, which we'd only met once before. After searching around, I initially wanted to find guesthouses near the village entrance and riverside, but they were all fully booked. The tourist area is free on August 15th and 16th, so there were too many people, and the kids' summer vacation was almost over. Then I noticed this place; it was the only one with many rooms left. I hesitated for a moment, wondering if having so many rooms at this time meant a poor experience or service problem. I was unsure, but I had no other choice, so I had to settle for it. The next day we set off for Niubi Village. The road to Niubi Village was over 20 kilometers long, with beautiful scenery. I had been there before and wanted to experience it again. When we arrived at Niubi Village, I was dumbfounded. To enter the village, we had to cross a very narrow bridge. Crossing it was manageable, but I was worried about its stability. I called the guesthouse owner, who said it was fine and asked if we wanted him to come pick us up. I thought it was too much trouble, so I had my wife get out of the car and direct us across the bridge. After crossing the bridge, the sign showed another 200 meters to go. My heart sank. 200 meters more, and the road was so narrow and remote—unlike the riverside guesthouse we saw as soon as we entered the village. I drove nervously to the guesthouse, parked the car, and it looked quite ordinary, like a village mansion, the more tasteful kind. After checking in, I was told it was on the 4th floor, the top floor. The owner said it had the best view, but because it was so high and there was no elevator, I wasn't too happy. The top floor also faced west and would be hot. The owner offered to help me get my things, but I said I'd exercise myself. The owner is a local, about my dad's age, and I figured a place run by an elder would be pretty average. But after I checked in, problems arose. I'll break it down in detail so you can see why; I'll list them out one by one, in chronological order. 1. When I entered the room, the air conditioning was already on, and there was absolutely no odor. Everything in the room was brand new. Since I'm traveling with a child, I was naturally concerned about formaldehyde, but I didn't smell anything. The only smell was the faint, genuine leather scent of the two chairs—not cheap leather. The sheets and other bedding were very clean, without any dust, unlike those hotel rooms where the sheets just sit there collecting dust after no one has stayed. The mattress was very comfortable. Later, I added the owner on WeChat and learned he makes mattresses—high-quality materials indeed. 2. Because it was on the top floor and facing west, I touched the walls; they weren't hot. The owner must have done some insulation. 3. Stepping out of the room, the view is breathtaking. The owner seems to have forgotten that his house is built halfway up a mountain, the tallest building in the village. Later, I visited all the guesthouses, and those that were fully booked didn't consider the bamboo's height, blocking the view. This place doesn't have that problem; the 3rd and 4th floors offer perfect sunset views. If you want to see the sunset, no joke, the two rooms on the top floor offer perfect views right outside your door. I've visited all the guesthouses in the village, and at night, the starry sky is endless. 4. Dinner was delicious. The owner's food was excellent, including a chicken hot pot, similar to "Mo's Chicken Hot Pot" in Foshan. I immediately pooped a huge lump – truly high-quality ingredients! Haha. 5. The owner forgot to cook the rice, so we had to wait a bit. The rice was served separately, and I noticed it was perfectly cooked, plump and separate, like Wuchang rice – probably the same high-quality rice they use. We ate in the courtyard because the children were sweating a lot and we were worried about the air conditioning being too cold inside. 6. The owners, their husband and wife, their son, and grandson were all there. The whole family lives here; they must come back for a vacation. Because my dad also built a house in the countryside, and I helped him out, I felt a strong sense of fatherly love while staying at the owner's place. My dad wants his children and grandchildren to visit more often, so he personally supervised every brick and tile of the house, which felt very similar to the owner's house. They live here themselves: everything is made of high-quality materials, odorless and formaldehyde-free, and the materials are very solid. Unlike many guesthouses that blindly replicate simple European or minimalist styles, which aren't the most trendy, everything here is practical and convenient, becoming more and more functional and convenient the longer you stay. This is a fatherly house. 7. Can you imagine that in this remote mountain area, the owner even has an electric vehicle charging station? Haha. 8. I was particularly satisfied that the room's air conditioning was a Panasonic, not a Midea. As a Foshan resident, I don't like that; the actions of Midea's heir are disgusting. 9. The room's chairs, tables, tiles, especially the mattress, wall paint, TV brand, and even the kettle, cups, and teacups—pay attention to the details! It's full of a father's love, haha. 10. Breakfast—needless to say, even the fruit (watermelon) wasn't like other hotels that serve stale fruit. 11. The courtyard, higher than the road, has many drainage holes and pipes—very thin, just like my dad's. This prevents water accumulation. The owner makes mattresses, and my dad makes doors; both are expert builders, knowledgeable about materials and construction methods. The house is exceptionally well-built. People like them probably don't care much about profit; what they care about most is others' opinion of their property, haha. 12. The house is surrounded by bamboo 180 degrees, and it's very quiet. Since not many people stay there, I couldn't test the soundproofing. 13. Also, the house is very clean everywhere, even the roof is free of moss and rust. I won't say this place is incredibly trendy or has amazing service; some parts might even seem a bit old-fashioned. But everything is practical and convenient, and you can totally feel the owner's dedication. He's incredibly knowledgeable about building and decorating houses. I'm just being honest. Plus, the price is reasonable—it's great value. The owner probably built it himself so his children and grandchildren can come back for holidays, and he can invite friends over. He's enjoying his retirement in peace. He didn't exaggerate his advertising, but I think this is a great place to recommend. This is my first time writing a review, and a long one at that. The next day, we went to the scenic area to climb a mountain, but it was free. There were so many people that cars couldn't get in, so we turned around and went to Lanxin Valley for water activities. Two days and one night—thankfully, we had a good stay and enjoyed ourselves. The sunset at Niubi Village was truly beautiful."
