"This was my first time staying in an old-fashioned hotel like the ones I'd only seen in movies and novels, and it was a great experience. The upper level is downstairs, and the guest rooms are upstairs. The guest rooms have been modernly renovated but retain some of their original character, making them quite unique. The hotel was clean and tidy. Crucially, one of the young staff members, Dean, had been to Chengdu, China, and spoke Chinese, which made me feel very comfortable. The accommodations I booked through Ctrip these past few days were all several tens of RMB more expensive than those on Qunar.com. I guess I got ripped off by a familiar traveler."
