"I recently stayed at the Hôtel de Bourbon (the Mercure one) in Bourges, and honestly, it felt like stepping into a little piece of history while still having all the modern comforts you could want. My room was a classic double, spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The bed was excellent—properly supportive after a day of wandering around—and the bathroom had a great walk-in shower with good water pressure. Everything felt freshly renovated (they did a big update around 2018), with a nice blend of modern touches and the old abbey character. Some rooms overlook the park, which must be lovely in summer."

However, there is NO air conditioning in the hotel, nor any mini-fridges: I had to make an exception and ask reception to keep some water bottles and sandwiches in their fridge. So, if you have to stay there in the middle of summer, be warned! Sincerely"
