Piney River biking trail nearby.You will love the remoteness and the solitude while in your cabin but the nearby amenities which you can enjoy. High speed internet in all cabins. Enjoy some alone time in the loft reading a book or play a game with the family at the large table. Gather around the fire pit, relax in the hot tub, fish in the pond, or get cozy around the wood stove. Settle down on the large deck to enjoy the mountain air, watch the sunset over the trees, or just listen to the sounds of nature.
Our cabin features a private bedroom downstairs with a queen size bed and an upstairs loft with 3 separate sleeping areas. A full bed area with it's own balcony, an area with 2 twin sized beds and another area with 2 queen sized beds. Big enough for the whole family! The large great room has plenty of things to keep you busy should you decide to stay inside. Or find many outdoor activities on site such as hiking and fishing in the private pond, or take a short drive from the cabin for all your outdoor experiences.
Find yourself enjoying the beautiful mountains of Virginia while not missing the amenities of home. Full kitchen and even a stocked coffee bar.
While there is no cell reception at the cabin, we do have WiFi for all your connectivity needs. Want to make it a device free weekend? - don't share the password!
Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains you will find yourself only miles away from Crabtree Falls (largest cascading waterfalls east of the Mississippi), an abundance of hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail), and fishing holes galore (stocked ponds as well as stocked and native trout streams).
Within an hour drive to skiing, golf courses and the well known restaurants, breweries, distilleries and wineries on Nelson 151.
Guests will pass the country store and gas station on the way in, less than 3 miles away. Once you turn off of Route 56 (Crabtree Falls Highway) the road is gravel from about a mile in all the way to the cabin. There are sections that may be difficult to traverse in inclement weather (snow/ice). Please proceed with caution. 4WD or AWD recommended in the winter.
Security cameras are located at the front door, overlooking the pond and on the front corners of the house. Cameras are turned off for your stay after check-in.

Retreat to an easily accessible getaway in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains! This house is perfect for families, travel nurses, telecommuters, parents of graduating university students, easy-going cowboys and cowgirls, and respectful bachelor/bachelorette trips. We are a short 2.5-hr drive SW from DC and 1.5-hr drive west of Richmond. Leave the hustle and bustle behind, and recharge in the mountain air! Located on Nelson29 and 20-minutes from Nelson151, our cottage is nestled within our multi-generational cattle farm. Wake up to sunrises over the pond with a cup of locally roasted coffee and toast a glass to cotton candy sunsets behind the mountains at dusk! Don't let the frogs nightly serenade lull you to sleep before the stars come out! Watch the cycles of the farm's hay production through the year and meet our cows! Craft memories around our handmade farm tables from oak trees on property! Our cottage has luxury memory foam mattresses for a great night's sleep, multiple Smart TVs with Hulu, fiber optic Wi-Fi for telecommuters, a sunroom with 180-views of the farm perfect for yoga, a fully furnished kitchen with settings for 12+, and games for inside and outdoors that will keep you busy, when you're not hiking, hunting, riding, fishing, off-roading, golfing, skiing/snowboarding, biking, kayaking, spectating, and tasting your way around the area.

Stock up on wine, beer, and spirits at some of our favorite local award-winning breweries, wineries, and distilleries, including: Blue Mountain Brewery Barrelhouse, Lovingston Winery, Virginia Distillery, Woodridge Farm Brewery, Bold Rock Cidery, Three-Notched Brewery, Devils Backbone Brewing and Distillery Company, Veritas, and Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards! We are happy to help with tour/transportation vendor recommendations! Pick apples, peaches, blueberries, strawberries, pumpkins, and cherries at the local orchards, depending on the season! We have Drumheller's Orchard directly across the street! Ski or snowboard the winter slopes at Wintergreen, where your host once taught kids to ski! Golf an array of 4-season courses in the area, including Stoney Creek! Cast your line in our catch and release pond or one of the many local lakes, streams, or rivers! (Equipment is not provided. We can try to put you in contact with a local guide if you want to learn to fish.) Hike the many local trails for all skill levels from the Virginia Blue Ridge Railway Trail to the Priest on the Appalachian Trail to explore the local flora and fauna! Peruse local art at the Heart of Nelson Artisan Collective's shop in the quaint village of Lovingston! Take a tour of Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello! Blast down one of the Neveplast tubing runs or ski in all four seasons on the slopes at Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre! Sunday drive the Skyline Drive to leaf peep in the Fall! Enjoy a summer rodeo at Oak Ridge Estate, Farmers' Markets in Nellysford & Lovingston, and local festivals around Charlottesville, Lynchburg, and Staunton! Stock up on wine, beer, and spirits at some of our favorite local award-winning breweries, wineries, and distilleries, including: Blue Mountain Brewery Barrelhouse, Lovingston Winery, Virginia Distillery, Woodridge Farm Brewery, Bold Rock Cidery, Three-Notched Brewery, Devils Backbone Brewing and Distillery Company, Veritas, and Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards! We are happy to help with tour/transportation vendor recommendations! Pick apples, peaches, blueberries, strawberries, pumpkins, and cherries at the local orchards, depending on the season! Nestled in the forest our cozy (yet spacious 2400sqft) well-built three-bedroom log cabin boasts panoramic Blue Ridge mountain views. It is located just outside of Lovingston VA,, the county seat of Nelson County, about halfway between Lynchburg (Liberty University) and Charlottesville (University of Virginia), Virginia.
The cabin is sited four miles off route 29 through some of the most beautiful farmland in the rolling hills of the Virginia Blueridge mountains. The final approach is a long (~300yd), steep, curving gravel drive past a small serene pond and meadow (we call it "the stairway to heaven") guarantees tranquility away from city noise and lights. This feature also serves as your own private hiking trail which can easily be extended by simply continuing along the scenic rural gravel access road for miles in either direction.
Upon arriving up at the cabin parking area, you will pass our large campfire just up the slate stairs at the forests edge to the left with the front porch straight ahead of you. There you will find for your enjoyment a double swing, two rocking chairs, and a large hammock. The front door opens into the spacious open living area with a wood burning stove, ample kitchen with island (seats two) and separate dining area that seats six comfortably.
The French doors open onto the 200 sq. ft. upper deck within the forest which offer mountain views in the fall and winter. The warm motif of this log cabin continues throughout the two roomy upstairs bedrooms and the third bedroom downstairs. The great room is host to a large wood stove, furnished with a queen-size sleeper sofa, 50" plasma tv, and game table that offers your choice of cards, checkers, chess or backgammon. Yoga mats, blocks, straps, and jump rope are available.
The cabin is less than 30 minutes from downtown Charlottesville, VA, 35 min to Wintergreen Resort, and close to renowned VA wineries (see Monticello wine trail in photos), breweries, distilleries, and the breathtaking hiking trails of the Blue Ridge Mountains, The Shenandoah Valley and Appalachian Trail are within a short drive.

Hi Michael,
We had an absolutely amazing time at your beautiful home! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and at peace. The house was spotless, cozy, and perfectly situated for everything we wanted to do. My family loved exploring the local wineries, distilleries, breweries, hiking trails, waterfalls, and restaurants — there was never a dull moment!
But what truly made this trip special was the serenity of the home itself. Waking up each morning to nothing but peace and quiet was a gift. It was the perfect place to relax and recharge between our adventures.
We were in town for my son's graduation from Liberty University, which was nothing short of spectacular. Having such a wonderful place to come back to each day made the entire experience even more memorable.
We did have issues with VRBO and/or Expedia as well, so it's not just you. Thank you for sharing your space with us — we hope to return again soon!

Beautiful secluded cabin. Well equipped kitchen. Perfectly furnished, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms. We enjoyed the peace and quiet as well as the wildlife and stargazing. The hosts were very responsive and easy to work with. We stayed over the Christmas week and the Christmas tree and decorations were a nice surprise. A+ we highly recommend.

We had such a wonderful stay at this cabin! It is absolutely beautiful inside and out, and in such a great location. A little bit remote - but still close enough to all of the breweries and wineries we wanted to visit! Everything was clean and the place felt very cozy! It is also extremely well stocked with kitchen supplies. We brought a lot of our own, but the cabin had everything we didn’t bring! There is tons of space inside the cabin and the host was very friendly and responsive. We would definitely recommend staying here!

"We were seeking an escape to the mountains for our family during spring break. Michael’s cabin exceeded our expectations. It was private, had amazing views, and provided us with every modern day accommodation. It was a little far to get to with a long, windy, narrow driveway but we were close to everything we wanted to experience. The surrounding land is very steep and must be explored carefully, but my son loved the little pond on the property. We only reached out once and Michael was immediately responsive and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and stay!"

The Beech Grove Farmhouse is an early century farmhouse situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains, has a sprawling two acre private yard, fire pit, hammock and swing, with beautiful mountain views and is across from Devils Backbone Brewery and Distillery. Located just five miles from the Wintergreen Resort, one mile from Bold Rock Cidery, Blue Toad Cidery and is along Nelson 151 Trails. The Appalachian Trail and other scenic trails are all around the area.
Located inside the farmhouse is a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, mud room, laundry room and a cozy living room. WiFi service is provided for our guests. The primary bedroom is located on the first floor with the other two bedrooms on the second floor. Each has ample closet space and a tv with a dvd player.
