"We travelled to Surville as an end destination based just on reviews we’d read here. Even though the reviews were great, it exceeded expectations. It’s hard to describe just how warmly welcoming the proprietors, Camille, Hugues and their delightful children were. It really did feel like staying with friends. The hotel is set in beautiful, thoughtfully laid out grounds. We swam in the warm pool, played badminton, cycled and just enjoyed picnicking in the wild flower meadow. The hosts lent us bikes for some wonderful rural bike rides between medieval villages. The restaurant was central to the experience and we enjoyed high quality, thoughtful cooking. Indeed, my daughter commented that she’d never had such posh food and so many courses! The rooms were simple, immaculate and very comfortable. Everything is of such a high standard and so thoughtful. We will definitely come back as soon as we can!"

"This castle was a gift from Louis XIV to his second wife, for her hunting and outdoor excursions. It's set within a vast forest, covering a large area. As a historic building, one can't expect the facilities to be overly modern, but the rooms do have jacuzzis, and the estate offers a pool, tennis, ping-pong, and small basketball and football courts, making it perfect for a vacation. Being family-run, the service is warm and attentive. It was a truly memorable stay!"
