"This is a comfortable hotel on the Mall Rd with great views looking over Shimla. Being an old hotel the room was large with plenty of space. There was a huge comfortable bed with nice bedding and pillows. The bathroom had plenty of hot water ( although no sink plug). It was all very clean. The furnishings and decor could probably do with an update, it looks a little 1990’s. The room didn’t have any heating so I’m not sure if this is centrally controlled and only on the winter, but I was given a fan heater when I complained the room was cold. The room has tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge. There was a constant supply of bottled water each day. There is a restaurant that did a very good breakfast for around £5. I had dinner in there one night which was also very good and clearly requested by non residents as well as residents. There’s a good outside bar with live music. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is near the tourist lift on the Mall rd and a short walk to the main attractions of Christ Church and the Ridge area. I’d be happy to stay here again."

"Warm welcome and we had amazing welcome drink . We stayed with family . Our room number is 401 & 402 that is on Villa Room and made by Pinewood . There is attached balcony with scenic view from the room. We enjoyed heated swimming pool in the rainy weather. Swimming pool was clean and all staff is well trained. We took drinks at AIR Bar there is indoor and outdoor spacious for party. We got service on top notch, Priced little high but as we got tasty food and service that would be value for money. I would like to recommend to everyone"

"Absolutely amazing experience at Vineet Kumar's place at ITC Chal Hotel, Himachal Pradesh! We had the Himachali Cha Gosht and it was hands down the best mutton I've ever had. The flavor was so rich, tender and full of authentic pahadi spices. But what made it even more special was chef Vineet Kumar himself - his food and service both were outstanding. Genuine hospitality, warm behavior and food made with so much love. If you are staying at ITC Chal and want to taste real home-cooked Himachali food, this is a MUST TRY. 10/10 would come again!"

"Overall nice stay. Rooms were neat and clean. However, the arrangement is good I felt...because rooms with view are small and spacious rooms aren't the ones with view. Since the property is on hill station it is set floor-wise. Ground floor is reception, restaurant and spa are on underground floors. All good and properly ventilated. View is beautiful. Staff was supportive. MANISHA and RASHI (among the staff) were nice hosts. They even taught me a few steps of Nati dance (of Himachal) after their performance on 24 August night. TARUN has been great host during dining, suggesting the best possible dishes for us to try. We tried sepu vadi traditional curry of himachal and loved it. Staff was really good and welcoming, Ajay, Risheb and everyone. Overall 9/10 experience."
The Grand Welcome Hotel
"⭐☆☆☆☆ This was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I’ve had, primarily because the experience was nowhere close to what was advertised or what the price suggested. The first red flag is the location and approach road. The hotel is located off the main Shimla route, and the final stretch of nearly 1 km is through extremely narrow, secluded roads with little to no lighting. Arriving after dark is uncomfortable, and at several points you genuinely wonder whether there could even be a hotel at the end of such a road. The disappointment continues upon arrival. The property looks and feels more like a basic 2-star hotel rather than the 4-star property portrayed online. I paid around ₹10,000 for the room at 5 PM, trusting the ratings and photos. To my surprise, when I checked later that evening around 8 PM, the same room was available for approximately ₹4,000. Frankly, the hotel feels much closer to a ₹4,000 property than a ₹10,000 one. Had I paid the lower rate, my expectations would have been very different. The room itself had an unpleasant smell, and the bathroom was worse. There was a foul odor, and basic toiletries were missing. The overall condition of the room did not reflect the standards expected from a premium-priced hotel. Breakfast the next morning was another letdown. The spread was very basic, consisting mainly of bread, eggs, and cold parathas. While this may be acceptable for a budget hotel, it is not what guests expect when paying premium rates and booking a property marketed as a 4-star hotel. Overall, the hotel is significantly overpriced for what it offers. Poor accessibility, underwhelming facilities, smelly rooms, and a very average breakfast make it difficult to recommend."

"We recently came to India from Canada for a family vacation, and this was our kids’ first trip to India. After a disappointing experience at another hotel on Mall Road, we were a little concerned about our stay. However, Regenta Resort, Mashobra turned out to be an absolute gem and exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the experience was exceptional. The check-in process was smooth, quick, and hassle-free. We were welcomed with genuine warmth, and every staff member greeted us with a smile, making us feel at home right away. The restaurant team deserves special appreciation. Their attention to detail was outstanding—they quickly remembered our preferences, so we rarely had to ask for anything. The food was simply outstanding, especially the local Himachali dishes, which were among the best we had during our visit to Shimla. The biggest highlight of our stay was the General Manager, Mr. Gyaru Thakur. He is truly the heart of this beautiful property. Down-to-earth, humble, approachable, and incredibly caring, he personally made sure everything was perfect throughout our stay. He took the time to ensure our children were comfortable and enjoying themselves. Our kids are usually shy and don’t warm up to people easily, but they instantly connected with him and had a wonderful time. The resort itself is beautiful, surrounded by stunning scenery, with clean and well-maintained grounds, spacious and comfortable rooms, and very cozy beds. The housekeeping team did an excellent job of keeping our room spotless throughout our stay. Combined with the pleasant weather, it made for a truly relaxing holiday. What impressed us the most was that, despite travelling with two very picky kids, we didn’t have a single complaint during our entire stay. That speaks volumes about the dedication and professionalism of the entire team. A big thank you to Mr. Gyaru Thakur and every member of the Regenta Resort, Mashobra team for making our vacation so memorable. We genuinely loved every moment of our stay and will definitely be returning on our next visit to Shimla. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful, family-friendly stay with outstanding hospitality."
